Artificial Intelligent Software to Prevent the Future

    • Categories Article

Artificial Intelligent computers are starting to appear in our society. This new technology is the future of the human race and it is creating more jobs than every other thing created since the start of the industrial age. The best of these artificially intelligent supercomputers will have the ability to think, reason and decide on their own, something that most humans can only dream about. In a future scenario, your home computer could be completely automated to act as your personal assistant, driver, personal shopper, employee and yes – even President of the United States of America.

But how will the artificial intelligence system know what to do with itself in a totally creative environment? Well, they will be interacting with humans as well, meaning they will be having conversations with humans in the form of e-mail, instant messaging, text messages and even audio. It is very interesting the way this all is developing. Soon, we will be able to have a system of software that can beat any game or program at chess, and can beat the best human players at poker, even though these humans may have thousands of games going on at once.

Now you might be thinking to yourself “what if I lose the game”, but that is not necessarily so. Currently, in the field of AI computer science the game plan is to have artificial intelligence playing the same game as you. It is like having an expert playing the game for you without you having to put the work into learning the game yourself. Imagine if you could have an artificially intelligent chat bot, which was trained from e-school to chat like a teen and who had no idea how to walk, talk and type on a keyboard. That is pretty much the same as having a human conversation for free in real time.

Of course not all of these artificially intelligent software will be friendly. There will be some that will be malicious. There will be some that will misbehave. And there will be some that will just be inefficient and unable to cope with the real world. But ultimately this is good news, because artificially intelligent software will help us reduce the risk of a disastrous military operation which costs many lives, perhaps many more than we would have if we had used human intelligence instead.

If we can’t prevent the worst, what can we do? First of all, we must make sure that all our systems run reliably. We have to make sure that our databases are robust and available for quick retrieval. We must ensure that all our software is reliable enough to withstand high traffic. In other words we must build robust systems from the ground up. It may be possible in the future to have ubiquitous computing but for now all our systems should be fail-safe.

In addition, we must make sure that our software is adaptable to the future. Humans are much less predictable than software. Therefore, if we make our software too rigid and inflexible it will become a burden in the future, will slow down the adaptation process of the software, and will hinder progress. If we allow flexibility and adaptability, we will allow the future to find the right solution for the problem, not lead to failure and expensive reinventing.

How can we achieve all this? I propose we create a future vision committee. We take a team of specialists and form an advisory board. We will ask them what they think we need to do to prepare for the future. They will be expected to suggest solutions that we can then incorporate into our system, implement and test.

Indeed, I hope you will please consider all this and think on it. I thank you for reading my many articles on diverse subjects, which interest you.
