The New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation serve the residents of New York City by providing them with world-class healthcare services. The Corporation was created by the State Legislature to serve the people of New York City. This Corporation is one of the leading health care planning organizations in the country. The Corporation provides services to women, men, children, senior citizens and those with disabilities.

In addition to these hospitals, they also have outpatient care facilities where the patients can visit on an outpatient basis for necessary treatments. In terms of private non-profit hospitals in New York City, the Empire State Development Corporation has the option to select a suitable facility to provide a new public hospital center at Bronx borough. The selected facility will be managed by the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. A number of acute care hospitals, nursing homes and specialty hospitals are located in the Bronx. Among these are the Monte Carlo Hospital, St. Barnabas Hospital, Brushton Hospital and New York Hospital New York. The facilities are fully equipped to handle the needs of complex patients.
Another state-funded non-profit organization in New York City is the New York Restoration Society, which aims at providing comprehensive healthcare services to its patrons. It runs two buildings – the Henry Street House Apartments – that have been designed as comfortable, affordable and welcoming apartments for low-income families. The residents of both the buildings have access to high quality health services, including a fully equipped emergency room, urgent care unit, physician on call, pharmacy, medical staff, social workers and psychologists. The New York Restoration Society offers its affordable patient care programs to families who can’t afford expensive health insurance coverage. Many low-income families are therefore able to receive comprehensive health care services.
As discussed earlier, public hospitals in New York City comprise a large percentage of the total number of beds in the city’s hospitals. The New York State Department of Health has made efforts to improve the quality of public hospital care by creating more family-oriented hospitals. In addition, public hospitals in the state have introduced new improved patient care services such as hospice care. Although hospice care can be viewed as very attractive in its minimalistic approach, the hospice model has been criticized for its limited ability to treat patients who are still suffering from severe diseases.
One other New York health care facility that provides comprehensive outpatient facilities is the New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center. At this facility, patients may enjoy the same level of comfort as in the hospital, but they can also visit various outpatient facilities. Outpatient care at the Cornell Medical Center includes access to x-ray machines and to a variety of general physical therapies, although in some cases, inpatient admission may be required. Outpatient services are usually limited to people living in the New York City borough of Manhattan.
For those who need extensive medical attention, there are two types of hospitals in New York that may be most suitable. These include specialty hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers. Specialty hospitals are designed to provide comprehensive treatment for patients who suffer from illnesses that are generally beyond the scope of standard hospitals. They are usually affiliated with major teaching hospitals or other academic medical centers. Some specialty hospitals offer rehabilitation services and outpatient surgery, in addition to hospital care. Most specialty hospitals have doctors and surgeons who are board-certified and who specialize in treating severe and complicated conditions.
