    Artificial Intelligence Driving Your Car

    • Categories Article

What are Artificial Intelligence and what is it good for? Well the short answer is that artificial intelligence is a branch of computer science that deals with controlling androids, robots, and similar intelligent systems. Artificial intelligence is increasingly important and with computerization taking over everything, including government agencies, it will soon be the norm to have artificial intelligent computers and robotic assistants in every walk of life. However, this isn’t just speculation. The future of Artificial Intelligent software may be closer than you think.

There are two main theories of how artificial intelligence is going to come to be. The first theory is that artificial intelligence will be direct response driven (DRD). The second theory is that artificial intelligence will be completely independent and self-directed. Both theories are very influential to the field, but neither is close to reality.

One big difference between DRD and independent artificial intelligence is the drive towards a goal. With DRD an AI system is driven by its impact on society. Its motivation comes from being able to pass its own test of intelligence. For an artificially intelligent system to be independent it would have to develop its own motivation and be able to pass that test.

For instance, researchers at Carnegie Mellon University are developing AI systems that can beat the games in chess. If it is successful, it may become the next grandmaster, a position that no man has held to date. However, there are many people who believe that such systems will never live up to their billing because we haven’t yet developed the ability to create an AI that is smarter than the most intelligent human being. The ability to create artificial intelligence is something that is closer than you think.

For those who doubt that artificial intelligence is near, one only needs to look at the way search engines work these days. It seems as though artificial intelligence is becoming a permanent part of the way search engines rank pages. In addition, Google recently purchased a company that makes software that will help with search engine results, and another artificial intelligence company that makes software that reads medical records to find anomalies in the process.

Self-driving cars are only the beginning of artificial intelligence applications. Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have already created artificial brains that can walk, talk, and understand basic language. These systems have already performed a number of tasks including recognizing images and speech and planning an entire trip to include all of the stops along the way. If these systems can win in the field of artificial intelligence, you could soon have an artificial intelligent automobile that could drive itself.

Although self-driving cars are a great technological and societal achievement, there is still much that remains to be done. AI will continue to grow, and as long as humans are around to program them, they will continue to learn. When discussing artificial intelligence, it is important to remember that while it is easy to imagine how this technology would make driving safer or easier, it is not yet technically feasible. However, as researchers push forward with self-driving cars and other artificially intelligent technologies, we will no doubt see more applications for Artificial Intelligence in every area of our lives.

The future of self-driving cars looks very bright indeed. However, the future may not be so easily defined. It is important for everyone who is interested in this exciting new technology to do their homework and to do it often. As time goes on, and with the help of new technology and self-driving cars, the future of self-driving cars will become even more defined and clearer.
