Improving Your Self – Discipline – Will it Be Difficult?

    • Categories Article

Discipline is one of those things that everyone says they are good at but most people aren’t very good at it. The traditional idea of discipline really doesn’t work the way people think it does. Instead of being a source of pride, fear, and reward, discipline can often be a source of failure. You can only MAKE yourself discipline. You are not able to UN-make yourself discipline.

People who say you have discipline need to get better at what they are doing. They need to know exactly what to do so that they can keep doing it and get better at it each time. Your mind is not set up like that though. If you want to get better at discipline you have to learn how to keep yourself disciplined even when things get bad.

A big part of building self-discipline is knowing how to use your willpower. willpower is absolutely integral for success and it is also absolutely critical for failure. The only way you will consistently stay successful and keep from failing is by using your willpower. Without it you will be like a wild animal wandering around the forest with no sense of direction. Each time you act in an attempt to do something the only thing you are actually doing is giving your body and mind a signal that there is something you need to do. You have absolutely nothing to hold on to as far as your willpower is concerned.

People who do not have self-discipline don’t give themselves any signals about what they should be doing. They just happen to get lucky. They happen to get disciplined because they understand the concept of self-discipline. Those who don’t understand the concept of self-discipline are going to struggle with discipline.

Discipline is about taking small steps forward instead of jumping through huge hoops. Those who jump through huge hoops ultimately end up destroying everything they had started. They make things even worse than they were before they started. The same is true when those who don’t take small steps forward end up smashing their heads into the ground. They may have made some progress toward discipline, but if they continue to make mistakes the progress they had is wiped out before they get started.

Those who are in some form of training to improve their self-discipline can take some level of discomfort to get them started on the right track. By making yourself uncomfortable your body will naturally begin to move toward the desired goal. The degree to which you tolerate the discomfort will help you decide if the discomfort is worth it. For example, if you are trying to get back into shape and you find that you are easily uneasy then it may take some level of discomfort in order to get you into shape.

If you are trying to get better at discipline, then the level of discomfort that you tolerate will make a difference. Those who try harder will keep at it longer. Those who don’t try hard will give up before they ever start. It all depends on what level of discomfort you can tolerate before you give up. This will be one important factor that will help you decide whether or not you should keep at it and how long you should keep at it before giving up.

If you are interested in improving your self-discipline, you might want to keep this advice in mind. It will be helpful if you can tolerate some discomfort in order to get started. Eventually you can start making some progress toward disciplining yourself. Once you have achieved a higher level of discipline, you will find that you are more disciplined, happier, and better able to handle whatever life presents.
