    How Personal Training Can Help You

    A personal training certificate is the next step after a basic fitness certificate, as it certifies that you have reached a certain competency in personal training. Such certificates are offered by various professional bodies such as the National Board for Personal Trainers (NBPT) and the American Council on Exercise (ACE). The most widely recognized of these certifications is the ACE. This certification is granted by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and is required of all instructors in all state certified fitness programs. A personal trainer can work in private practices or for fitness centers and health clubs.

    The National Board for Personal Trainers is a non-profit membership organization that was formed in 1948. The purpose of the organization is to provide personal trainers to fitness clubs and health clubs. They are also appointed to oversee courses and trainees. The personal training certificate issued by the said board to personal trainers indicates that they have met specific continuing education requirements.

    There are some career options for personal training certificate holders. They can work for a gym, fitness center or a private practice. More often than not, the gym or fitness centers hire trainers for specific gyms or workout routines. Some personal trainers work in private practices while some operate in franchises. There are also some four-year degree programs for personal trainer careers.

    If you are interested in being a personal training expert, the first step is to become a registered nutritionist. The next step is to register for a certification for Nutrition Therapy. Nutrition therapy involves the application of nutrition education principles to enhance client’s fitness goals through personalized nutrition plans and personal training techniques. Nutritionists can apply many dietary management skills, such as food selection and serving size recommendations. They can also teach clients how to integrate nutrition information into their daily lives.

    After certification, the job outlook for Nutrition Therapy Professionals is positive. Today’s fitness conscious clients want to stay fit and healthy. This is why many fitness centers and health clubs prefer to hire Nutritionists to educate them about exercise, diet and motivate clients about physical activities. They can provide information on weight loss programs, nutritional counseling and fitness exercises. Personal training sessions can be customized to meet the needs of individual clients.

    Personal trainers are able to design programs that are based on clients’ goals. They can recommend diets, exercise programs and nutritional education for clients with special needs. Personal trainers can use various tools, including exercise balls and handheld digital computers, to motivate clients towards meeting goals. Clients usually set goals by themselves.

    Personal training has a lot of benefits. It helps individuals to develop healthy lifestyles and they improve their self-confidence. It also boosts self-esteem and overall fitness. The best part of a career as a personal trainer is the opportunity to help others achieve their fitness goals.

    The education, experience and skills gained as a Personal Trainer can be transferred and used in other fields like Exercise Science, Sports Management and Kinesiology. It is important to gain formal education before venturing into this field. Those who wish to become Personal Trainers should pursue at least a bachelor’s degree. Those who aim to become kinesiologists should complete at least a master’s degree. Candidates who want to specialize in any area of fitness should pursue a bachelor’s degree or higher.

    Personal Trainers should be prepared to work with people of varying ages, body types and fitness levels. They should therefore be able to assess their clients properly and design an effective program that will address the needs of each client. A strong knowledge in biomechanics, physiology, nutrition and exercise science will be of immense help for personal trainers. Certified personal trainers must pass a test given by one of the three organizations – American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Commission for Certifying Agencies of Fitness (NCCA) or National Guild of Personal Trainers (NEGFA).

    It is important to have a positive and outgoing attitude towards clients. Personal Trainers should ensure that their clients are always satisfied with the results and they encourage them to keep up with their fitness regime. Clients are encouraged to set goals and be persistent if they do not see quick results. They should be encouraged to ask for feedback and be vocal about their achievements. An effective personal trainer should be able to devise a workout routine and ensure that it is followed successfully by his/her clients.

    Personal trainers can earn a considerable amount of money if they organize a well-organized fitness camp. They can use this extra income to expand their business by taking up new clients or adding on a few new exercise equipment. A personal trainer has the option to sign up for membership in local gyms or join fitness clubs. This way, they will be able to interact with more potential clients.
