Book Wormers – How I Got Myself a Book!

    • Categories Article

A book is an ideal medium for recording verbal information in the form of prose or pictures, usually written using several printed pages enclosed in a cover and bind together. The most technical term for the physical structure used to protect the material is codex. However, one must take into account that there are two forms of book: printed and bound. Printed book comprises all textiles (dresses) and other similar materials with the exception of maps, charts, illustrations, etc., printed on manufactured paper using ink-jet printing technology. The most common types of printed books are linoleum books (books); woodblock prints (illustrations); carpets; every day newspapers (news); board and printed papers (for illustrations and maps); and also folders (books).

German author and publisher Alfred Stauffer was the first one to use the term “books” to represent a collection of written matter, published in German, for example, Handbooks of lectures, seminars, meetings, or conferences. In his term, Stauffer also utilized the term “Stapler” which means a brush or stomper used in painting or drawing. Several decades later, American writer Henry Wadsworth Longfellow used the term “books” in connection with his work. Although Stauffer had already used the term “book” in his terminology, it was not until much later that most Americans would readily refer to a book as such. And so, the term “books” today is commonly used in North America as well as in Great Britain and other Commonwealth nations.

Some of the earliest examples of printed books are the copy of Handbooks of the Harvard University founded by Dr. Samuel H. Sewall and published in 1817. This Harvard handbook contained eighty-two pages of lecture notes by Rev. Samuel H. Sewall, considered as the father of modern psychology. Other early examples of early books include The Book of a Thousand and One Arabian Nights printed in Venice in 1201, The Book of Sirat by Aladdin, and The Book of Ruth written byitionally Egyptologist and philologist Solomon K. Gerspach. Other examples of 19th century books include The Divine Comedy by Saint Augustine, Paradise Lost by Dante, and Moby Dick by Herman Melville.

Use your favorite search engine and type in the title, author name, and genre into the search box; you’ll soon find a number of websites dedicated to helping people locate non-fiction books that they need. Most of these websites will also have some type of list of recommendations, some even offering recommendations based on your book’s topic and rating!

Usually book clubs will ask you to fill out an online survey or give you a certain number of book samples before they send you your new shipment.
