    Myths About Modular Homes

    • Categories Article

A modular construction is a pre-fabricated structure that contains many repeated sections known as modules. Modularity involves assembling sections from the construction site, and transporting them to the final site. Installation of these modular sections is normally done on-site. It uses pre-fabricated parts or components made of steel, wood or concrete. These parts are delivered in sections and are connected to each other by welding, riveting or fastening them together.

A modular construction offers several advantages over traditional construction. It is possible to build a modular building in a short time as compared to a traditional construction, because modular units can be put together piece by piece at a manufacturing facility. There is also less disruption to the area surrounding the modular building, as it is shipped in sections.

The transportation of modular units is very simple and does not entail the same hazards associated with assembly of sections of conventional building materials. For example, most of the modular pieces can be transported on trailers. The transportation means the whole of the modular unit is carried in one transport truck. This reduces the risks associated with transportation, such as breaking down or damaging the unit while in transit. Because of the reduced risks involved, the cost associated with the transportation method is also reduced.

There are many advantages to the use of modular components. These advantages include fewer materials used, easier assembly, quicker construction times, reduced costs and ability to be moved or stored when required. Many people prefer modular homes, and many companies producing modular homes use standardized designs to provide consistency among the various models. Because the modular manufactured homes are manufactured at a large factory where they are assembled by highly trained workers, there are far fewer defects during the manufacturing process. Since the design of modular homes is standardized, this also means that there are fewer problems with cross connections among the parts.

One of the most common myths surrounding modular construction is that the final assembly has to be exactly the same as the beginning assembly. Modular building is different than traditional building construction, in that the modular construction process includes pre-fabrication of all the required parts. The parts are shipped in sections during the final assembly of your home. Once these parts arrive, you simply connect them together according to the instructions that come with each section.

Another myth surrounding modular homes is that you cannot move your home once the foundation is built. While you cannot move your modular home when it is being built, you can move the modular foundation once the modular platform has been delivered to your home site. Once the modular platform is on your property, you will be able to dig down to level up the foundation. The modular foundation does not require any additional excavating. Your home site will be kept dry and the concrete slabs will be installed to prevent any standing water from eroding the foundation.

Many people also believe that modular homes are more difficult to construct than manufactured homes. The truth is that most modular homes are the same as manufactured homes. The only difference is that the modular platform or module is constructed at the factory and then shipped to the site for assembly. The foundation is the same in both cases. The modules are simply constructed on the site and bolted to the foundation. The only real difference between a modular home and a manufactured home is the number of modules that are required to build your house.

As you can see, there are many myths about modular homes. Manufactured homes are often the subject of much more myths than modular homes. Although they are similar in many ways, there are significant differences in the way that manufactured homes are designed. As long as your manufactured home meets manufacturer’s warranty requirements, you have nothing to worry about. However, if you do choose to build your own modular home, make sure to take the time to learn about home design options and to select the materials you want to use.
