Scuba Diving – The Challenge of Diving Inside of a Corrupt Ship
A Corupt is a ship that has had one or more decks damaged or capsized. Ships at sea often encounter these as they travel across the vastness of the ocean. Corupts are not the same as sinking ships. A Corupt is an example of a “hard ship” – one that is not completely destroyed, but sinks to the bottom of the sea without losing propulsion.
The term “corupt” comes from the Latin word “coruit” meaning heart. A “corupt” ship is literally meant as a heart of a ship or a vessel. In terms of design, a corupt is a long, narrow ship with no weapons and no support. These ships were primarily used as transports for convicts who were being transported to other lands.
In ancient times, most of the world’s shipping was by way of longships. However, in modern times, the majority of shipping is by means of small boats. A ship that capsizes is often quite simply floundered. The reason is because there is no central anchor to keep it together. The crew on a corupt will have to work to keep it upright by working on different methods.
One method that these crew members use is to try and force the ship upright. They do this by working with ropes. Another method is by utilizing hydraulic jacks. This is when the ship is actually raised with the use of hydraulic jacks. Yet another method is through using ballast – a huge ballast that basically tries to flip the ship over. After all attempts to move the ship have been made, if the ballast fails, the crew will have to abandon the ship and continue their voyage.
If the corupt has taken on water, the first thing that the crew will have to do is to try and stop the sinking ship. If this attempt proves unsuccessful, the crew will have to perform an extensive search in order to locate a safe spot for the ship to dock at. This is extremely important, as the loss of a ship at sea can mean great loss of life. Once the crew has located a good spot, they can set up a salvage operation. They can either tow the corupt to shore with the help of an inflatable boat or they can raise it above the ground using a crane.
If raising the corupt via a crane is not successful, the deck of the vessel will need to be raised. Once the deck has been raised, the Corupt will need to be drained of all water. The crew will then be responsible for cleaning the ship of all excess water. The purpose of this is to prevent rust from setting in on the exposed metal.
There are two main types of damage that can occur to the Corupt: Internal and External. Internal damage will most likely require that the Corupt be towed to shore for proper maintenance. External damage will usually result from collisions or rough weather. It could also result from extreme seasickness.
The recovery of the ship is often a long and arduous task. However, there are several methods to bringing a ship back to its original condition. Sometimes the crew can simply abandon the vessel and call for rescue. Other times, heavy equipment may be required to remove the ship from the waters. The last alternative is to use modern technology – which is where divers come in.
Diving on a corupt presents its own unique set of challenges. This is because courts are cold, dense and very slow moving. If you plan to dive the ship into the water, you are advised to wear a life jacket to minimize the possibility of hypothermia. In addition to clothing, you should also wear diving gear that ensures maximum safety – including a mask, diving regulator and snorkel.
When it comes to dealing with courts, there are two main types of crew. There are those who will be working the ship’s boiler to ensure that the water in the boiler is kept at a constant temperature. These crew members have the job of pumping out water from the boiler while the other crew members will be working on cleaning up the corupt. Corupts in open water pose a unique set of challenges – one of which is that corupts that are far from shore are far more likely to collide with larger ships.
If you plan to dive inside of a corupt, do not dive alone. You should always take one person with you – this is especially important if the ship is large and has numerous rooms. Never attempt to navigate your way through the ship on your own, unless you have extensive experience in boat handling and engineering. Furthermore, do not attempt to navigate your way into the interior of the ship on your own – you will more than likely create a lot of unnecessary accidents and risk – not to mention giving the other crew members a lot of unnecessary stress. If you do happen to come across a corupt, do not try and open fire or shoot it with a gun without the assistance of a trained professional – these are dangerous jobs and could end up causing death or serious injury.
